EMV innovation now in full blast

January 20, 2017

Good news to our UCPB Savings ATM and eCash Card holders! Both cards are now equipped with the latest Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV). The standard ATM and eCash Cards will now be replaced with a new and refreshing look with better security features. This is compliant to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on the new international standards on credit and debit transactions. The new ATM and Debit cards now migrate to EMV with the following features:

  • Added security against fraud.  The EMV card transactions require PIN code entries instead of signatures. As a result, payments are more secured against counterfeit purchases or the use of lost or stolen cards.  Unlike in the magnetic stripe card, the unique code embedded on the EMV chip cannot be cloned or duplicated.
  • Guaranteed authenticity.  The EMV cards which contain a unique digital seal or signature embedded in the chip proves its authenticity and prevents criminals from using fraudulent payment.
  • Greater security for online payments.  The EMV cards allow secured payments and also protect cardholders, merchants and issuers against fraud through a unique online encryption.
  • Bigger storage.  The EMV cards store more information than the magnetic stripe cards.  Plus, they are able to function for longer periods of time.
  • Widely accepted.  EMV cards are accepted at almost all business establishments to date.  Use it to check your balance, transfer funds, withdraw cash, pay bills, and even do auto debit transactions when doing your groceries and online shopping.

It’s time to upgrade to a new, better and more secured ATM and eCash Card.  Starting January 2017, the new EMV ATM and eCash Cards will be available in all UPCB Savings branches nationwide.
