Philippine Red Cross and UCPB Savings Bank’s Call for Service

March 21, 2024

The 67 years of existence of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in the country has created thousands of life saving stories between indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations. Fifty six years ago, UCPB Savings Bank (USB) started to provide proactive services to far flung areas. To date, both are still active in their respective mission and vision – in the spirit of SERVICE.

On October 19, 2018, a day after the commemoration of USB’s 56th Anniversary, the Bank endorsed a cheque to PRC amounting to One hundred fifty one four hundred seventy pesos (P151,470) as PRC voluntary membership of 444 Bank employees and family members.

PRC and USB’s Officials during the Turn-over Ceremony at the Philippine Red Cross National Headquarters, 37 EDSA corner Boni Avenue, Barangka Dr., Mandaluyong.
The turn-over was attended by PRC’s OIC Secretary General, Elizabeth Zaballa and Manager, Eduardo Buena, Jr,; while USB’s President and CEO – Lizette Racela was represented by the Bank’s CorPlan and MIS Head Jaime Juan Ramon Valera, III and HRD Head Christine Renton. The fund will be used for PRC’s operations in Blood, Disaster Management , Safety, Health, Social, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. The organization has updated its equipment for blood services to respond to 50% of the country’s blood supply; and facilities to respond to emergencies and disasters.

To continue the Bank’s support to PRC, Ms. Renton discussed the plans of conducting a bloodletting program on January 2019 as this was cited by Mr. Buena to be the month with the lowest blood donations. The Bank shall also be invited to the organization’s various activities for continuous support and collaboration.

Latest technology and facilities were shown during the tour at the Organization’s headquarters.
