PRC and UCPB Savings Bank’s Partnership Made Stronger

The humanitarian partnership between Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and UCPB Savings Bank (USB) took another toll. USB endorsed on November 12, 2019 a cheque amounting to One hundred fifty four thousand two hundred ten pesos (P154,210) as PRC voluntary membership of 466 Bank employees and family members. The amount intends to support the organization’s operations in Blood, Disaster Management, Safety, Health, Social, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. According to PRC Assistant Secretary General Ramon P. Murillo, the membership renewal is important as it provides PRC the resources to continue its timely and quality service delivery to the most vulnerable in times of disaster and during emergencies. He added that USB’s confidence in PRC motivates the organization to strive to be the premier humanitarian organization in the country.

As of November 12, 2019, PRC has assisted with 174,044 blood requirements and 1,875 hemodialysis treatment , aside emergency responses, vaccinations, shelter, water, medical aid and other humanitarian services it provided. “The bank personally experienced the help of PRC when 2 of our employees needed rare blood types because of Dengue this year. We will be forever grateful of this.” USB President and CEO Lizette Racela said.
After the start of the two organizations’ partnership in 2018, USB has conducted a Blood Letting activity at the Bank’s Head Office on July 26, 2019. Thirty sever (37) units of blood were donated, which yielded a total of 111 blood products. As a support to its emergency response advocacy, an Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support Training conducted by PRC was attended by 19 USB employees on September 23-24, 2019. In case of a local disaster, these employees can now be deployed as volunteers to respond to their area of responsibility.
